SLED charges Richland County man with unlawful carrying of a pistol

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Midlands man is being charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, according to SLED.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says 35-year-old Steven Rutland is the subject of a SLED investigation regarding an officer involved shooting that happened at Lexington
Medical Center on Friday, August 2.

Rutland was charged on Thursday, August 8, by SLED. SLED was requested to investigate by the Lexington Medical Center Department of Public Safety, and the investigation is ongoing.

Rutland was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
