KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A 1-year-old child is recovering after a shooting incident in Kershaw County, say deputies.

Over the weekend on Saturday morning, a child’s elbow was grazed by a bullet around 12:30 a.m.

Witnesses told investigators a light colored SUV with its lights off slowly approached a house in the 600 block of St. Paul Road in Camden.

Then the suspects in the SUV rang out multiple shots at the home.

Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office says the only person in the home to be hit by gunfire was a 1-year-old child.

“We do not believe this was a random shooting. It appears to have been planned. The only thing we know for sure right now is our one-year-old victim had absolutely nothing to do with the poor decision made by the shooter,” states Sheriff Lee Boan.

People with any information about the shooting is asked to contact your KCSO at 803-425-1512 or 803-424-4000. You can also send an email at Investigations@kershaw.sc.gov.
