Coroner identifies Rock Hill teacher killed while headed to a baseball game in Sumter
KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Kershaw County Coroner David West has released the name of the person who died after a collision on Saturday, Aug. 10, says the coroner.
The collision happened around 11:40 a.m. on I-20 mile marker 93 east bound in Kershaw County. The driver of a 2006 Ford F150 was hit in the rear.
He was identified as 29-year-old Jalen Benjamin from the Rock Hill area, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner’s office says Benjamin was a school teacher and the baseball coach at Legion Collegiate Academy in Rock Hill.
Also, the coroner’s office says he was headed to a baseball game in Sumter when the collision happened.
The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office.
