Woman arrested for kidnapping in connection with missing 3-year-old, child found safe

 

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County deputies say they have arrested a woman accused in the kidnapping of a three-year-old boy.

40-year-old Asia Thomas is charged with kidnapping and abduction.

According to deputies, the mother of 3-year-old Kayden Thompson flagged down a deputy and said her son who is autistic and nonverbal fell asleep in his father’s arms at the family home on Metze Road.

But was nowhere to be found and the front door was open. Deputies later found on camera that Thomas took the child.

The family later found him with Thomas as she tried to escape in an Uber but was later caught. The child was not harmed and was safely returned to his family.

Thomas is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
