SPD: 15-year-old charged in shooting that left another teen injured

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– An 18-year-old was injured, and a 15-year- old is in custody following a domestic-related shooting Wednesday, said Sumter PD.
Officers responded to a report about a shooting on Wednesday, around 2:45 p.m. when they found the victim, who suffered a gunshot wound on Ash Street.
Information gathered in the case indicates the 18-year-old was parked in front of a home on Barwick Street when shots were fired into his vehicle, said Sumter Police.
He tried to drive away, crashed and then ran to Ash Street where police were called.
He was listed as in stable condition on Thursday morning after being flown to a Columbia hospital.
Investigators said the shooter ran from the scene on Barwick Street and was later found by officers and taken into custody.
The 15-year-old whose name is not being released because of his age, is being held in a state Department of Juvenile Justice facility.
He is charged with attempted murder, possession of a handgun by a person under 18 and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
