Chapin man arrested for attempted murder after shooting incident earlier this month
IRMO, S.C. (WOLO)– A Chapin man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with a shooting incident earlier this month, says Irmo Police.
On August 3, Irmo officers say they responded to a home in the New Friarsgate Subdivision for a shooting.
Even though two houses and one car was hit by gunfire, no one was injured.
Irmo Police Department says after multiple interviews were conducted and evidence from the scene processed, warrants were issued for 20-year-old Maurice T. McQuire.
McQuire was taken into custody without incident Friday, August 16, and charged with 4 counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
He was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and denied bond.
“We are very fortunate that nobody was hit during this incident. To commit this act in broad daylight in a neighborhood shows just how reckless and dangerous McQuire is. I am proud of the work our investigators put in to have McQuire jailed and thankful that his bond was denied”, stated Chief Bobby Dale.
