Man convicted of Samantha Josephson murder loses appeal
Josephson was killed in 2019 when she got into a car she believed was her rideshare
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Wednesday the South Carolina Court of Appeals upheld the conviction of the man who killed a USC student when she got into his car believing it was her Uber.
In July of 2021 Nathaniel Rowland was found guilty of the murder of Samantha Josephson and sentenced to life in prison.
In his appeal, attorneys for Rowland argued that evidence obtained when police stopped his car should be suppressed because there was not probable cause for a traffic stop.
Again, that appeal was denied.
Josephson’s death lead to the creation of Sammi’s Law which requires ride-share companies to use enhanced verification systems.
