Man arrested after found with drugs during Sumter County traffic stop

Deputies say 24-year-old Anthony Dwayne Pringle, Jr. was stopped by deputies for allegedly traveling twice the speed limit, and was found to be trafficking cocaine.

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A man was arrested after driving twice the speed limit, according to Sumter County deputies.
Deputies say 24-year-old Anthony Dwayne Pringle, Jr. was stopped by deputies for allegedly traveling twice the speed limit, and was found to be trafficking cocaine.
Anthony Dwayne Pringle, Jr. was seen driving twice the speed limit on Carolina Avenue in Sumter County by a Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Deputy on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 18.
The sheriff’s office says the deputy used the patrol vehicle’s equipment to confirm that Pringle was driving 60-mph in a 30-mph zone.
After conducting a traffic stop, and approaching the driver’s window, the deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
While doing a search of the vehicle, the deputy discovered a white, powdery substance which was later confirmed as cocaine.
Deputies also say in addition to the cocaine, a handgun was found. Also, Pringle is accused of having what was confirmed to be crack cocaine.
Upon further investigation, the deputy found that Pringle’s license was suspended and due to a prior conviction for manufacturing cocaine which is a felony as he is not permitted to possess a handgun.
Pringle was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and released on a $43,147.50 bond.
