RCSD: Guards arrested at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center
Investigators say with the recent increase in overdoses at the jail, deputies decided to take a proactive approach and held an unscheduled search of employees cars.
Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)–Richland Co. deputies say Bridgett Williams, 37, and Ashanti Rembert were arrested after deputies searched the cars of Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center employees.
Investigators say with the recent increase in overdoses at the jail, deputies decided to take a proactive approach and held an unscheduled search of employees cars.
Deputies say after the search, Williams was charged with furnishing contraband and manufacturing and distributing methamphetamine and Rembert was charged with possession of another controlled substance and furnish contraband.
Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center has been under added scrutiny in recent months following reports of violence and structural deficiencies which lead to a federal investigation.
