Rembert man accused of strangling woman while children watched
Sumter, SC (WOLO) — Sumter County deputies say they arrested a Rembert man accused of forcing his way into a women’s motel and strangling her in front of her children. Friday morning just before 1:30 am, deputies say they were called to a motel near North Main street. Once they arrived officials say they were met by someone claiming to be the victim of domestic abuse.
Deputies say the victim told them a man identified as 23 year old Thomer Robinson kicked in the door to the motel room before assaulting the woman while holding her down as three children looked on. Officials say an employee responded to the room and according to authorities was able to get him to stop assaulting the woman
Deputies say they detained Robinson during their investigation. After getting his statement,
interviewing witnesses, and taking a look at evidence at the scene, deputies placed Robinson under arrest for Domestic Violence.
Robinson is being held at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
