LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Batesburg man is accused of trying to kill one person, and threaten to kill another, say deputies.
Jerry William Hall, Jr., was charged with murder, kidnapping, third-degree assault and battery, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes and possession of meth, according to arrest warrants.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department says deputies were dispatched to a house on Bayonet Road Thursday night after a neighbor called 911.
Witnesses told investigators over the course of nine hours, the 29-year-old assaulted someone multiple times and locked them in the house when they attempted to escape.
“They found the victim in the woods severely beaten,” according to Sheriff Koon.
Also, witnesses say when they entered the house, Hall threatened to kill them as well.
“Investigators determined Hall punched the victim, kicked them with his steel-toed boots and restricted their airway to the point of unconsciousness,” Koon states.
Deputies say by the time they arrived on the scene, Hall had left the house but they received information on Friday that he was in the 100 block of Buggy Road where he was detained.
Hall was arrested and taken to the Lexington County Detention Center where he is being held after a magistrate judge denied his bond.
