Convicted murderer gets life sentence for sexual assault
Beaufort, SC (WOLO) — A man already doing time in prison for murder will now spend the remainder of his life behind bars following his conviction for a 2016 rape.
According to the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor, 43 year old Brian David Walls was found guilty by a Beaufort County jury of his peers Wednesday for first degree criminal assault.
According to prosecutors, Walls was already serving 40 years in prison for the murder of his disabled neighbor 56 year old Teresa Siegler which authorities say took place just days before the sexual assault occurred. The Solicitor’s office says in accordance with South Carolina ‘Two Strikes” law, Walls would have been required to serve a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors say Walls first victim lived in the same community and was known to feed and occasionally let people stay at her home if they were having a tough time. Solicitor Sean Thornton says Walls and two co defendants killed Sieglar in an attempted to steal her monthly disability check. Officials say her body was found wrapped in a blanket which had been duct taped and set on fire.
A day after her body was found Thornton says Walls sexually assaulted a 19 year old woman inside of the bathroom of a motel he and his co-defendants rented. According to Prosecutors the young woman who had given the men a ride to the motel, was a family friend and was lured inside after Walls asked her to help carry something to the second floor motel room.
