United Way of the Midlands launches Campaign for Good initiative
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The United Way of the Midlands has launched its Campaign for Good initiative and is inviting people to take part in its mission to create generational change.
The Campaign for Good began after United Way of the Midlands was the recipient of a $10 million gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
“That in and of itself said a lot about the work that the organization was doing, and what we decided to do as a board was to leverage that gift. We said, if somebody who doesn’t live in this community was willing to give us $10 million, why can’t we match that,” explains Campaign for Good Co-Chair Calvin Elam.
Officials say they want residents to join in helping create change throughout the community.
“Campaign for Good is an opportunity to create groundbreaking work,” said Sara Fawcett, President & CEO of United Way of the Midlands.
