Blythewood H.S. mourns loss of ‘beloved’ athlete

Richland Co., SC (WOLO) —The Blythewood High School community is mourning the loss of one of their own tonight.

The Blythewood football team took to social media over the weekend sharing the news of their loss.
The post on ‘x” referring to the student, Troy Moore, as a member of their family who was just as “talented” as he was “dynamic”.

The Blythewood High school Principal released a statement concerning the loss as well saying,

“Dear Bengal Nation Family, It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our beloved student, Troy Allen Moore, a thriving junior at Blythewood High School, who left us on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
Troy was a cherished member of our community, known for his athletic talents as a member of both our varsity football and basketball teams, his kindness, enthusiasm, and academic excellence.

During his time here, Troy touched many lives.
He brought a sense of humor, creativity, friendship and dedication to his studies and interactions with others.
His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
We believe it is essential to share this information with you, because when such a tragedy occurs, it affects not only our Bengal family but also the entire Richland Two family.

As we navigate this difficult time, let us come together to support one another.
It is natural to feel a range of emotions—grief, sadness, and even confusion.
Please remember that our community is here to offer support.

There has been nothing released concerning the details behind Moore’s death, Richland School District Two officials have confirmed that Moore did not pass away on school property. ABC Columbia News has reached out to the Richland County Coroner’s office to determine the cause of death, but have not heard back at the time of this story being published.
