McDonald’s unveils new McFlurry cups

(CNN)– McDonald’s has redesigned its McFlurry cups to reduce plastic waste.

Beginning September 10, the chain is eliminating the plastic dome-shaped lid.

Instead it’s serving the ice cream treat in a new cardboard cup that has four flaps to cover the top.

The update is the company’s latest attempt at making environmentally friendly changes.

In 2023, it phased out the McFlurry hollow plastic spoon.

Also rolling out next week is a smaller McFlurry serving size called the mini McFlurry.
