CPD: 27-year-old charged with felony DUI resulting in death after 2-car collision, judge denies bond
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The Columbia Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating after a 2-car collision happened on Wednesday night, according to police.
The department said the collision happened at the intersection of Broad River Road and Lost Creek Drive on Wednesday, September 4.
Investigators said 27-year-old Sydney Ezelle has been charged with felony DUI resulting in death in relation to the 2-car collision.
Ezelle is accused of driving impaired and speeding when she hit a 58-year-old woman’s vehicle.
Ezelle remains housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
On Friday, Sept. 6, Columbia Police Department announced via ‘X’ that she denied bond by a judge.
Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the victim as Marlyn L. Burkett, 58, of Irmo, SC.
