SC Department of Education approves cellphone ban

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The State Department of Education announced state-funded schools will ban cellphones during the school day beginning in January of next year.

The initiative is entitled Free To Focus SC and it aims to enhance focus and engagement in the classroom.

Education officials said they surveyed almost 10 thousand teachers and most of them said student’s cell phones should be banned during the entire school day.
