RCSD: Deputies respond to report of man being ran over
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County deputies find woman accused of running over man after she drove off into Broad River, say deputies.
According to the sheriff’s department, deputies responded to a call in the 1600 block of Long Creek Drive in relation to a domestic incident.
When on the way to the scene, deputies were notified by dispatch that a man stated a woman had ran him over and was attempting to do it again.
Richland County Sheriff’s Department says they quickly located the woman and intervened.
Deputies say the woman fled in her vehicle towards Omarest.
Also, deputies say they pursued her for about one minute when she drove herself off of the dead end of Omarest into Broad River.
About an hour and a half later, RCSD’s dive team located the driver submerged under water.
RCSD says once on the shore, first responders at the scene made several rescue attempts, but the driver was unresponsive.
EMS pronounced the driver deceased and the coroner’s office was notified.
The man was with first responders with non-life-threatening injuries.
