1 dead after collision in Calhoun County

CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– One person is dead after a Saturday morning collision in Calhoun County, said highway patrol.

The collision happened around 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, on Midway Road near Wood Stork Trail, which is around 7 miles east of Cameron.

SC Highway Patrol said the driver of a 2006 Honda Sedan was traveling north on Midway Road when the vehicle went off the left side of the road, hit a ditch, and overturned.

EMS took the driver to MUSC Orangeburg, where the driver was later pronounced as dead.

The Calhoun County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver as 23-year-old Brianna Gourdine from Elloree.

The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
