Sumter PD: Teen last seen leaving for school found safe

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter Police and family members are asking for the community’s help finding a teen last seen leaving for school, says Sumter PD.

Officers say they are working together with family members to find 16–year-old Mikyera Elmore, who was last seen around 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning leaving for school.

But a text message later indicated that the teen was with family in Florence.

However, her family members have not seen her, say investigators.

She is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs about 140 lbs. and has black braided/dread loc styled hair.

Anyone who has seen or has been in contact with Elmore is asked to call the Sumter Police Department at 803-436-2700, and to always dial 911 in an emergency.
