Lee Correctional riot inmate trial date set

LEE COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– An inmate accused of taking part in the deadly Lee Correctional riot in 2018 is set for trial next week.

According to the Department of Corrections, jury selection for Stephen Green’s trial starts on Monday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Lee County Courthouse.

In April of 2018, seven inmates were killed in a riot that investigators say started after illegal cellphones were brought into the prison.

Green is being tried for several charges including murder. In all 29 inmates have been indicted since the riot.
