RCSD deputy recovering after being hit by vehicle

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A Richland County deputy is recovering after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday night, said RCSD.

Authorities said after 8 p.m. on Sept. 24, the deputy was directing traffic around a vehicle incident on Caughman Road and Benson Road when he was hit by a passing car.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said the deputy’s injuries are not life-threatening.

The driver was identified and SC Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
