Man arrested after drugs found during traffic safety checkpoint
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell has announced that drugs and more than $12,000 was seized during a traffic safety checkpoint.
Around 7:40 p.m. Saturday, CRT members stopped a vehicle after the smell of marijuana was noted as coming from the vehicle.
Investigators say they located during a search of the vehicle a quantity of marijuana, a prescription bottle with the label removed, and $12,079 in cash.
Sheriff Ravenell said the arrest is the result of a traffic safety checkpoint conducted by the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office’s Community Response Team (CRT) on Saturday, Sept. 21.
“This is a result of our CRT team working to keep our community safer, and we won’t stop these efforts, we’re going to continue working toward a safer Orangeburg County,” the sheriff said.
As a result of the search and find 21-year-old Caree Gibbs of Eutawville has been charged with possession of marijuana and second-offense possession of a schedule II narcotic.
