Districts offering free food pick up for students as SC continues to recover after Hurricane Helene
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Several school districts are offering free food pick up for students as schools continue to be closed after Hurricane Helene
Newberry County:
Food pick-up sites: Newberry High School, Mid-Carolina High School, and the Whitmire Community Center on Tuesday, Oct. 1, and Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
District officials say the sites will also be open for internet access and charging stations. eLearning is continuing through Wednesday, October 2, with assignment deadlines announced once power has been restored to the county.
Richland Two:
- Bethel Elementary
- Pontiac Elementary
- Kelly Mill Middle
- Killian Elementary
- Dent Middle
- Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m
- Lunch: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m
Lexington Two:
Free lunch meals: Monday between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Pine Ridge Middle, Cayce Elementary, and Riverbank Elementary.
All classes and activities have been canceled on Monday, September 30.
Richland One:
Meal pickup at the following locations:
- Carver-Lyon Elementary School – 2100 Waverly Street, Columbia, S.C. 29204
- Eau Claire High School – 4800 Monticello Road, Columbia, S.C. 29203
- Lower Richland High School – 2615 Lower Richland Boulevard, Hopkins, S.C. 29061
- Richland One Central Kitchen – 1224 Whitney Street, Columbia, S.C. 29201
Food pickup time: 9 a.m. to noon.
All Richland One schools and administrative offices will be closed Monday, September 30.
Lexington-Richland School District Five:
Meal pickup will be available at Irmo High School, Dutch Fork High School, and Chapin High Schol high school bus loops on Monday, September 30,
School officials say bag lunches will be available.
