President Biden to survey damage caused by Helene in the Carolinas

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– President Joe Biden is making stops in the Carolinas to survey the impact of Helene on both states, according to the White House.
The press release says he will engage with first responders and state and local officials in South Carolina while in route to North Carolina on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
In South Carolina, Kim Stinson with SCEMD says 18 counties are reporting over 1,500 damaged homes, and county governments are closed in 8 counties.
She also stated that most requests remain for food, water, fuel, & chainsaws. Residents can call SC’s hurricane hotline at 1-866-246-0133.
Also, President Biden will take an aerial tour of the areas impacted in Western North Carolina.
