WATCH: SC Gov. holds another briefing on Helene recovery response

 

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Gov. Henry McMaster will hold another media briefing Tuesday afternoon to provide more updates on the state’s response to the impacts of Helene.

Other state emergency management officials joined McMaster for the 2:30 p.m. briefing.

Dr. Ed Simmer with the SCDPH says all hospitals across the state have power restored and are fully functional.

A number of medical need shelters are open across the upstate. To find the right shelter for you call 1-855-472-3432.

Also, DPH officials say in a partnership with FEMA, DPH has oxygen tanks for the people who may be in need of one now.

Kim Stinson with SCEMD says 18 counties are reporting over 1,500 damaged homes. County governments are closed in 8 counties. Most requests remain for food, water, fuel, & chainsaws. Residents can call SC’s hurricane hotline at 1-866-246-0133.

During the press conference, officials touched on the topic of cell service stating that outages across the state are at 9% with users in Abbeville, McCormick and Laurens most affected.
