City of Columbia to perform damage assessments throughout the city
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The City of Columbia said in conjunction with Richland County, South Carolina Emergency Management Division and FEMA there will be a crews performing damage assessments throughout the city.
The damage assessments will take place on Thursday, Oct. 3, to see the impacts of Hurricane Helene in the city.
The public is asked to be aware and use caution in areas where crews will be actively working.
Officials said the assessors will be evaluating damage to residences, businesses, government facilities, infrastructure, natural resources, cultural resources and the amount/type of debris on properties.
The damage assessments will assist the City of Columbia and Richland County to compile accurate information to turn into the State of South Carolina for Federal disaster assistance.
Citizens can help report damage to their property or business by submitting a report on the SC Emergency Manager app.
