Bath & Body Works apologizes for selling candles that looked like Ku Klux Klan hoods

(CNN)– Bath & Body Works has stopped selling one of its candles after its design sparked controversy online.

The label on the holiday-scented candle was decorated with a stylized paper snowflake.

But many people on social media compared it to the hoods and robes worn by Ku Klux Klan members.

Bath & Body Works has apologized and pulled the candle from its website and retail locations.

The retailer’s collection of holiday-scented candles amount to nearly 40% of its annual sales.
