Fairfield County Coroner releases name of person who was involved in a fatal collision

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Fairfield County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the person who was involved in a fatal incident on Saturday, said the coroner’s office.

According to Coroner Chris Hill, 56-year-old Tony Lee Canty of Ridgeway was the back seat passenger of a vehicle that was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

Canty was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries that he sustained during the incident. 

Other occupants were taken by EMS to the hospital for treatment.

An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death.

The collision remains under investigation by the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
