SCSO: Man charged with two counts of felony assault

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– According to Sumter County deputies a man has been charged with two felonies.

Deputies say 28-year-old Quincy Jerrod Carter, Jr., was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature (x2), and domestic violence (2nd).

On Monday, Oct. 14, around 9:23 p.m. a call was received by the Sumter County Dispatch reporting that someone near Trent Street needed help.

Witnesses at the scene told deputies that an individual had come to them saying they were being chased by a person with a knife. 

Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputies say upon further investigating, additional witnesses alleged that Carter committed domestic violence and assault.

Deputies discovered one victim had been cut with a knife and EMS were dispatched and provided aid to the victim.

Carter was arrested and taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where he is being held awaiting a bond hearing.
