FTC announces new rule that makes canceling subscriptions easier
(CNN)– The federal government just made it much easier to cancel your gym membership.
On Wednesday, Oct. 16, the Federal Trade Commission unveiled its final “click-to-cancel” rule.
It requires businesses to provide a way for consumers to cancel their subscriptions that is just as east as it is to sign up.
That includes everything from gym memberships to digital streaming and cable tv service.
The new rule goes into effect 180 days after it is published in the federal register.
The rule is meant to address common issues with subscription plans.
