South Carolinians break record on opening day of early voting period

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– According to SC Election Commission, South Carolina saw a record breaking opening day of early voting period.

Officials say more than 125,000 voters turned out to cast their ballot on the first day of early voting which topped the previous one-day record for early voting set in the 2022 General Election.

New record (October 21, 2024): Approximately 125,900
Old record (November 4, 2022): Approximately 70,100

With voting still underway, the SCEC is reminding any voter who hasn’t yet voted that they can visit an early center in their county during the early voting period and vote in person like they would at their polling place on election day.

Dates: Now – Saturday, November 2 (closed Sunday, October 27).
Times: 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Locations: Check scVOTES.gov or contact your county voter registration office.
Voters will be asked to present Photo ID when checking in to vote.
