SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter Police says shots fired at a local fast food restaurant last Friday led to the arrests of two people.

Also, it led to officers finding pounds of marijuana, thousands of dollars in cash, as well as firearms and ammunition.

Officers say there was an exchange of gunfire on Friday morning in the parking lot of Burger King on Calhoun Street.

Additionally, officers say the exchange stemmed from an intended drug transaction between two people, when one of the men tried to rob the other and shots were fired.

One of the men suffered a gunshot wound and ran from the scene. No other injuries were reported, and at least one vehicle was hit by gunfire.

Authur Jamaal Reimbeau, 24, of Spartanburg, was hit during the exchange and ran from the scene where he was found injured.

He was taken to an area hospital for treatment and was placed in police custody upon his release on Tuesday.

Reimbeau is being charged with discharging a firearm into a vehicle, attempted murder, illegal possession of marijuana-2nd offense, possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and armed robbery.

The second man, Eyan Ernest Nathaniel, 23, of Rolling Creek Drive, drove away from the scene but was later located and placed in custody.

He is being charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent possession with intent to distribute marijuana, trafficking of marijuana and felon in possession of a firearm.

Following Nathaniel’s arrest, officers searched a Reed Street residence tied to him, where they found 18 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of $36,000, and nearly $17,000 in cash.
