Irmo High student accused of making threats against students at school on social media
LEXINGTON, S.C. – An Irmo High School student is accused of making threats against students at the school on social media, says Lexington Co. Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators say the student, whose name will not be released because he is under 18, posted a threatening message in a group chat on social media Tuesday night, Oct 22.
The teen was charged on Wednesday, Oct. 23 with making school threats.
“The response to this threat on the part of school administrators and law enforcement represents across-the-board coordination and the system working. Thanks to the FBI for receiving the initial threat notification and working with us at LCSD. We’re glad everyone stayed safe and there was never a disturbance or interruption on campus,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon says.
The student was released to the custody of his mother, and will appear in Lexington County Family Court at a later date.
