CHAPIN, S.C. (WOLO)– A man has been arrested by Chapin Police after a stabbing that happened over the weekend, says the police department.

Investigators say Jacob Adam Riddle was arrested in connection to a stabbing that happened at 103 Beaufort Street in the Town of Chapin.

Chapin Police Officers arrested Riddle at his home in Newberry County for attempted murder and he was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center.

On Sunday, October 27, around 2 a.m., officers responded to the parking lot of the Tipsy Toad Tavern 103 due to a stabbing that was reported.

Evidence collected at the scene, along with statements from several witnesses, identified Riddle as the stabber, say Chapin Police.

Riddle is accused of stabbing the victim in the back which then prompted another person to try and get Riddle off of the victim.

Investigators say during the struggle the person was also cut with the knife.  Riddle left the scene in a vehicle after he was separated from the victim.

The victim was taken to Lexington Medical Center for emergency medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the assault.

With the help of the Newberry County Sheriff’s Department, the Chapin Police Department took Riddle into custody at his home in Little Mountain.

He was charged with attempted murder, assault and battery 2nd degree, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
