Boil water advisory issued in the City of West Columbia

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A boil water advisory has been issued in West Columbia due to a water main break, say city officials.

The following areas effected:

  • S Cromwell Street
  • Lucas Street
  • S Witt Street
  • Spring Street
  • Shuler Street
  • State Street
  • Herman Street
  • Court Avenue
  • Trade Street
  • Sortwell Street
  • Oliver Street
  • Hudson Street
  • Norfolk Street
  • Carpenter Street
  • Congaree Park Drive
  • Riverwalk Circle
  • Saint Anns Alley
  • 5th Street
  • 6th Street
  • 7th Street
  • 203 9th Street
  • 110- 316 S Marble Street
  • 201-901 Meeting Street
  • 414-901 Center Street
  • 101-900 Augusta Street
  • 401-824 B Avenue
  • 500-704 C Avenue
  • 109-500 Alexander Road

Water customers in these areas who have lost water pressure or who experience cloudy water or sediment in the water are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking.

Also, any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.

City officials advise customers experiencing sediment in the water to flush the water until no sediment appears and then continue to boil their water for at least one full minute.

This boil water advisory will remain in effect until it is lifted.

Water customers may check the City of West Columbia website at www.westcolumbiasc.gov for updates on the boil water advisory.

Water customers may also contact customer service at City Hall between 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at 803-791-1880.

Emergencies occurring after hours and on weekends and holidays should be reported to the West Columbia After Hours Answering service at 803-791-1880.
