Newberry County deputies update public on Wednesday night flying helicopter

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Newberry County deputies say a helicopter seen flying overhead on Wednesday night, Oct. 30, was not related to the search of Hamlett.

Officials say the Newberry Police Department and SLED were using the chopper to search for people that were shooting guns and endangering the public.

Deputies say there was no immediate danger, but rather a preventative measure.
