COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)/ (AP NEWS) — Polling places in the Palmetto State as closed as votes continue to come in.
On Election Day, voters around the country casted their ballots for former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris, to see who comes out on top in the race for the White House.
AP News and ABC has called former President Donald Trump as the winner in South Carolina, beating current Vice President Kamala Harris with the most votes in the state.
Former President Donald Trump won South Carolina on Tuesday, earning its nine electoral votes for the third straight election.
South Carolina has not voted for the Democratic nominee for president since 1976, when Democrat Jimmy Carter — the governor of the neighboring state of Georgia — defeated Republican President Gerald Ford throughout the South.
