Middle school teacher accused of assaulting student

Lexington Co., S.C. (WOLO)–  Deputies with the Lexington Co. Sheriff’s Dept. say a teacher at Irmo Middle School is accused of assaulting two students.

Investigators say Jermaine Singletary, 51 struck a student in March when he thought the student touched his head.

Authorities say Singletary struck another student when the student tried to retrieve a portion of an assignment Singletary had thrown in the trash.

Officials say Singletary turned himself in Wednesday morning.
