Governor Henry McMaster announces Farm and Forest Recovery Resource Days
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina’s largest industry in agribusiness which brings more than $50 billion to the Palmetto State each year.
However, this year’s drought and storms have caused nearly $620 million in damage to farms according to the state’s Department of Agriculture.
The State Forestry Commission says there was almost $200 million in damage to the state’s trees, more than three-fourths of those trees on privately owned land.
To help the state recover from the devastation, Governor Henry McMaster announced 3 Farm and Forest Recovery Resource Days.
These events will connect farmers to 22 different agencies so they can learn about applying for disaster relief funding.
The first recovery day will be held one week from today Friday, Nov. 8, on the campus of USC Aiken.
