ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced investigators have ended a search for a 4-year-old child who was reported as missing early Tuesday.

Ravenell said Orangeburg Country Sheriff’s Office investigators were alerted of the incident around 5:45 a.m. by an Orangeburg resident.

“We had information that a security camera had caught footage of a child wandering around on a street unaccompanied,” the sheriff said.

A Willow Bay Drive resident provided investigators with security video that showed the child in distress walking down that street with no guardian present.

The mother of the child was on her routine morning walk when she heard his cries for her and found him soon after.

“Fortunately, the child’s mother located him after only a brief time outside of the home,” continued the sheriff.
