Red Lobster overhauls menu after bankruptcy

 

 

(CNN)– Hush puppies, once a staple on Red Lobster’s menu are returning.

It is part of broader changes at the chain which emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection under new ownership in September.

A 35-year-old CEO is hoping to turn around the seafood restaurant chain’s fortunes.

Rolling out this week, an overhauled menu that is 20% smaller but has 9 new items.

They include the beloved cornmeal fritters.

One item not coming back anytime soon is the endless shrimp for $19.99.

The new CEO says never say never but the restaurant cannot sustain a menu item that loses money.
