Local Living: Honor The Dream Food Drive, SC Veterans Affairs Thanksgiving Food drive, Wild Lights at the Riverbank Zoo, Firefly Holiday lights

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— In today’s look at Local Living, the City of Columbia is hosting its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Honor The Dream Food Drive.

Richland School District One and the Martin Luther King Junior Memorial Foundation are also taking part. Some requested items include canned fruit, vegetables, dry goods, and canned meat. The food drive runs through November 22. For a list of drop-off locations, click here.

You can also donate to the South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs and Harvest Hope’s Thanksgiving Food drive.

It’s going on from now until Friday, November 22. You can drop off those items at the department’s headquarters on Saint Julian Place.

It all goes to Harvest Hope to support veterans and their families who are in need.

Wild Lights at the Riverbank Zoo kicks off this week. You and your family can stroll through the zoo and discover nearly 60 larger than life handcrafted lanterns inspired by nature.

There will also be interactive activities and visits with Santa. The fun starts this Friday, November 15, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and goes through January 12. Tickets are

on sale now.

 

There will also be a live show at Segra Park, Firefly Holiday lights will have more lights and more activities than ever before, including the return of Fireflies Express.

The lights will be open from Friday, November 15, through Saturday, January 4, on select nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
