Ways to give back this holiday season
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– With the holiday season around the corner’s police organizations and charities and looking to give back.
If you are in the holiday spirit to give back this year, here are some places to donate to below.
- You can spread holiday cheer with Shop with a Cop. Irmo Police Department Community Foundation is using their Shop with a Cop initiative to bring joy to the community and support families in need during the holiday season. The police department is accepting donations until Dec. 5. Drop-off location: Irmo Police Department (1230 Columbia Ave., Irmo, SC 29063), online way to help (irmopdcommunityfoundation.org). You can also send a donation through the mail.
- Blythewood Middle School is holding an annual Canned Food and Toiletries Drive from Nov. 11, through Nov. 21, to support Christian Assistance Bridge. The school is asking for any non-perishable food or toiletries.
- Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is once again doing Operation Santa Claus. The sheriff’s office is giving toys to children that is experiencing hardships during the holiday season. Also, the sheriff’s office is accepting new toys for children of all ages, as well as gift cards for older children. The donations can be received at the sheriff’s office on 550 Wilson Road.
- Richland County residents have the chance to help ‘Stuff an Ambulance’

C.H.U.G.S. Winter Donation Drive – City of Columbia Homeless Services and the Office of Violent Crime Prevention have teamed up for a Winter donation drive from November 11, until November 31. The city is asking to help keep the community warm by donating coats, hats, undergarments, gloves, and socks for those in need. New and gently used items will be accepted.
