On Thanksgiving, many of us wonder about the chances of seeing a live turkey outside as well as on the dinner table.

Did you know, you have a higher chance of seeing a turkey outside in these counties in the Pee Dee and Midlands of South Carolina?

That’s because Darlington County, Lee County, Sumter County, and Chesterfield County all have more turkeys than people within their county borders!

This data is valid from 2012 to 2021.

Other counties in South Carolina, outside of our area, that also have more turkeys than people within their bounds include Kershaw, Fairfield, Newberry, Chester, Cherokee, and Lancaster counties.

The state with the most wild turkeys is Texas.

What fun facts in honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday!
