SC Dept of Consumer Affairs encourages online shopping safety

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs is encouraging you to be safe when making those purchases online.

Here are some tips, when you are shopping online always use a credit or gift card.

Be extra careful about logging on to sites that are unfamiliar.

And don’t use free public wifi, it can open up to hackers.

And last but not least storing credit card information on a site you frequent is convenient, but it’s also risky if there’s a data breach say experts.
