Need to finish updating with new info
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Deputies with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office say 19-year-old Matthew Woodard has been arrested in connection with the shooting incident that occurred at the mini-park last month in November.
Investigators say the shooting happened on Saturday, Nov. 30, at the mini-park on Old Camden Road.
He was taken into custody on Tuesday, Dec. 3, without incident at his workplace.
FCSO responded a motor vehicle incident at the intersection of US 321 Bypass and SC 213, near MUSC ER around 6:20 p.m. when deputies saw that one of the vehicles involved in the crash had a gunshot victim inside.
Witnesses reported that the shooting occurred moments earlier at the mini-park located at 2330 Old Camden Road in the South Winnsboro area.
Deputies say the scene was secured at the mini-park while others managed the crash and assisted with the victim at MUSC ER.
The victim remains hospitalized at this time.
An investigation has determined that an altercation began just before 6 p.m. on that Saturday when several individuals arrived at the mini-park.
After the physical confrontation, it is believed that Woodard opened fire on a vehicle that the victim was a passenger in.
The investigation is still on-going and additional arrests may follow, says the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.
