ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– An Orangeburg man is facing multiple charges and is accused of burning a puppy, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said 28-year-old Desmond Brown has been charged with ill treatment of animals and second-degree domestic violence.

Brown is also charged with two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle and one count of receiving stolen goods/chop shop.

“I’ve seen some extremely despicable and disgusting things in my career, but this is one of the worst,” the sheriff said.

Investigators were called on Wednesday, December 18, around 10 a.m. in reference to a domestic dispute at a Norway residence.

When deputies arrived to the scene they were informed that as a woman burned Brown’s clothing, Brown threw the woman’s puppy into the fire.

Despite Brown denying the accusations, investigators were sent a video of the event which had been uploaded to social media.

Law enforcement said during a search for the puppy, two stolen vehicles were found on the property.

And the puppy was discovered to be deceased.
