2025 brings ‘REAL ID’ deadline for travelers

(CNN)– You will need a “REAL ID” to fly domestically starting in May 2025.

That is unless you have a passport or enhanced driver’s license issued by several states.

The deadline is May 7, but you probably do not want to wait until the last minute to get your REAL ID.

You can apply for the REAL ID compliant driver’s license or ID card through your local department of motor vehicles.

REAL ID’s are marked with a star on the top of the card.
