Section of Saluda Riverwalk behind Riverbanks Zoo & Garden closed for construction
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department will close a portion of the Saluda Riverwalk trail next month, said city officials.
According to a press release, the closure will take place on Monday, January 6, due to public safety for heavy construction that will happen by Riverbanks Zoo and Garden.
The closed section will reopen by Monday, January 13.
The closed section of the Riverwalk begins directly behind Riverbanks Zoo, with public access terminating at the east end of the Millrace boardwalk, said officials.
Barricades will be in place at the end of the boardwalk.
Contractors for Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens will be installing sections of their Saluda Sky Ride Gondola Project.
During the timeframe guests can still access the Millrace boardwalk, and can explore the full 1.5-mile section of the Saluda Riverwalk trail extending to the right of the Riverwalk heading west and upstream.
